Show Net Partners with 2005 Winter Equestrian Festival For Equestrian Information Service Program

Show Net, a company dedicated to improving equestrian efficiency through advanced time management tools announced today that the 2005 Winter Equestrian Festival has agreed to utilize the services of Show Net for the upcoming show season.

The wireless information system will help both management and exhibitors reach a higher level of efficiency using modern technologies, including the advanced software tool, “Order of Go.”

“We’re thrilled to have the Winter Equestrian Festival on board,” said David Orlando, who along with Grant Williams, created The Show Net system. “Of all the horse show production companies in the country, Stadium Jumping would be the very best to be partnered with on a venture like this,” Orlando said.

The Winter Equestrian Festival is managed by Stadium Jumping, Inc., the nation’s largest producer of equestrian events. “I’ve been employed by Stadium Jumping for ages and ages, so it was a logical union,” Orlando said. “I think it’s a bonus to sign on with the biggest company right from the start.

I think it will be easier to approach other shows down the road, once they’ve seen that the Winter Equestrian Festival has taken the first step towards more efficiency at their horse shows,” said Orlando.

“Both Gene Mische, President of Stadium Jumping, and Michael Morrissey, Manager of the Winter Equestrian Festival, saw the system in action during the test run at the National Horse Show and they were very excited about getting the system up and running for WEF.”

The Show Net system will allow users to log on via the World Wide Web or by utilizing the wireless system now being installed at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center, 14440 Pierson Road in Wellington. Orlando has been working on the system for weeks. “My responsibility is setting up the infrastructure. Gathering and setting up the hardware, physically laying out the fiber optic cable and placing the wireless beacons,” Orlando explained.

Show Net requires the talents of both Orlando and Grant Williams. It’s a two fold responsibility,” Orlando said. “The software is one aspect of the operation and that lies with Grant Williams. He’s in Australia now, working with our software experts, refining and fine tuning the program. It’s certainly not something where you can just flip the on-off switch and it’s working.

There’s a lot of hardware, a lot of different devices in addition to the software. Plus there’s a lot of integration to make this system bullet proof,” said Orlando.

Show Day Live

Show Net, while improving the efficiency and easing the days of those showing and working at the Winter Equestrian Festival, will be available to everyone and anyone around the world. “There’s no limitation to who can see and use the system, Orlando said. “Dial up, high speed or wireless, it will all get you to the Show Net system.”

Utilizing the advanced software tool, “Order of Go,” Show Net will have seven key features that will improve the productivity of everyone involved at WEF.

“Just by logging on to our system with a PC or handheld device, the subscriber can get to any ring on the grounds and they can narrow it down to any single class,” Orlando explained. “Show Net will give you the next ten in the order of go, it will tell you how many horses have gone out of the total number expected in the event,” he said. “Then, from there, it will give you an estimated time start for the next class.”

In addition, Show Net users will know where they rank in the standings at anytime.

“Show Net allows you to go to the top ten rankings of the class in progress,” Orlando said. “Again, that’s any class, in any ring at any time,” he pointed out. “If it’s a jumper class, you’ll get the scores and standings. For hunters and equitation you’ll get either the numerical scoring or the stand by list when issued by the judges,” said Orlando.

Show Net allows subscribers to add or scratch any class, make declarations or submit a feed order. “And then it’s all sent, via computer, to the proper office for bookkeeping,” Orlando said.

One of Show Net’s most sought after features will be results, as they happen. “We offer live results from any ring, anywhere on grounds,” said Orlando. “The class status is probably the most important part of our system. Our focus is the ‘ease of day’ for everyone that uses our system,” he said.

Orlando and Williams are excited about Show Net’s debut at the Winter Equestrian Festival. “We’ll be up and running the first day of the Winter Equestrian Festival. It’s the largest demographic and variety of horse people assembled in one place in the country, if not the world,” said Orlando. “For anyone beginning any type of equestrian business venture, Palm Beach is the Mecca. It’s the ideal place to start,” he said.

A variety of customized pricing plans are offered for both the wireless network and the World Wide Web and are available by the week, month or by the year.
